Introduction

I am a Material Scientist developing new functional energy/environmental materials & innovative methods of producing advanced functional materials.

I lead discovery-driven, problem-solving oriented research in the area of advanced energy/environmental materials synthesis. We are living in a challenging world with ever-increasing demand of energy, strong drive for carbon-neutral society with strong focus on circular economy without the generation of unwanted pollutions in the environment.

Our research group is motivated to solve grand challenges in the area of energy/environment by developing a new functional materials/inventing an innovative system for renewable energy, energy storage devices and ways of achieving circular economy of energy related materials/resources. Other specific research interests include biomass conversion into functional energy/environmental materials.

Our research group will focus on the use of plasma and thermal based technology to generate defect-free or defect engineered materials for energy and environmental applications and develop new processes for energy resource generation/maximize the efficiency of the energy storage & conversion devices and build up new materials and devices for recovering the valuable materials/resources from the industrial/natural wastes.

Currently, I hold an Associate Professorship at the Energy Materials and Devices/Environmental and Climate Technology Track, at the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) in Republic of Korea.
