About

I am an Associate Professor and Chair of Department of Energy Engineering (Undergraduate) at Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH). Also I serve as the Director of the Center for Education Innovation (CEI) where I oversee its operations in line with KENTECH’s education mission, vision, and values. Before coming to KENTECH, I was an Assistant Professor at Northern Illinois University, while working as a Research Fellow at the U.S. Army Research Lab’s Intelligent Tutoring Systems Division.

My current research interests focus on looking at how knowledge is structured in the mind of individuals and visualizing the knowledge structure using network technologies. So far, my lab has designed and developed various award-winning network analytic systems that can capture, visually represent, and compare knowledge structure in learners’ multi-modal data (e.g., writing, speaking, reading) in their learning process so that we can assess individual learners’ learning trajectories for more personalized learning environment.
