History
In 2017, the project to establish an energy research-focused university was introduced as part of the Korea’s "Five-Year Plan for State Administration.” This initiative led to the approval of establishment of a non-profit educational foundation in April 2020, and subsequently, to the enactment of the Special Law in March 2021 by the Korean National Assembly to create the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH), the first global university that is solely focused on energy research and technology In May 2021, KENTECH President was appointed by its board of directors, and the university's registration process was legally completed. With the beginning of historic groundbreaking ceremony on June 1, the infrastructure of this institution are under construction on the campus premises, consisting of 400,000 square meters of land area and 155,500 square meters of building floor areas. The core theme of the campus design is to build a smart campus integrating state-of-the-art facilities by introducing zero-carbon energy and eco-friendly technologies.
