Introduce
As the crisis of climate change and energy resource depletion become serious, increasing attention is focused on conversion of the energy system from carbon-based to hydrogen-based. Hydrogen energy is a future energy system that replaces the role of carbon as an energy carrier with hydrogen and the new hydrogen energy system can solve the problems of the energy and environment. Hydrogen can be produced from water by electrolysis. Hydrogen made from water can be utilized as a fuel of fuel cells and hydrogen turbine to produce electricity and water. No harmful water circulate in the hydrogen energy system and thus, it is an eco-friendly and zero-emission energy system. In KENTECH’s hydrogen energy track, hydrogen energy technologies including hydrogen production, storage, transport and utilization will be focused on and the students in the track will be educated to be engineers specialized in hydrogen energy.
Why should we study this track?
Eco-friendly hydrogen energy system without emission of GHG is a promising future energy system and it is in its early stage of introduction into the real energy system. Many reports published by renown energy research institutes, predicts fast growing market of hydrogen energy and large number of manpower sought in this field. Thus, the graduates from this track will be a pioneer to experience building a new environment-friendly hydrogen energy system.
What do we learn from this track?
Hydrogen energy system consists of various technologies. The student will learn technologies related to hydrogen production, storage, transportation and utilization. Integration of technologies will be also focused on. In order to understand these technologies, knowledge of basic science like thermodynamics, transfer phenomena, reaction engineering, electrochemistry, and so on, are required. The students who completed the basic scientific courses, will learn core technologies of hydrogen energy, such as electrolysis, liquefaction process design, chemical storage, fuel cells and turbine and so on. These course work will strengthen the students ability to be a hydrogen energy engineer who understand technologies of entire value chain.
Not other institutes but KENTECH
KENTECH's hydrogen energy track offers very unique acdemic program which covers the technologies of entire value chain of hydrogen including hydrogen production, storage, transport and utilization. Currently, 8 professors specialized in hydrogen related technologies are carrying out research related to hydrogen, and 10 more professors will be invited to study together within next 2-3 years, Our track offers students to experience entire hydrogen energy technologies and then, they will understand how it works in the real hydrogen energy system.
What will it mean for my future and career? / What study we can do after graduation?
The graduates from KENTECH’s hydrogen track will be experts in hydrogen energy system and they will develop their further carrier as follow
- Researcher/Engineer at Energy Industries
- Researcher at Research Institutes in public or private sector
- Professors at Engineering Colleges
- Government officer in energy field
- Start-up a tech-company
